Leading the way in sustainable luxury, this urban retreat‘s eco-friendly initiatives include the implementation of zero-waste operations. It has already achieved carbon neutral status and is on a mission to be plastic-free by 2022.
Golden Buddha Beach Resort, Phang Nga
Solar energy powers fans and heats the water. Sea breezes cool rooms. Plastic bags have been banned. Ducks and chickens are reared on site. There’s recycling and composting. This hotel is all about minimal impact.

Having established the Alila Zero Waste to Landfill project, the hotel aims to process waste onsite into higher value products and services for reuse. It has also implemented composting and pioneered permaculture to move towards self-sufficiency in fresh produce.

Following an extensive five-year renovation, this hotel has not only been significantly upgraded, but is focusing on minimising its impact on the environment, reducing single-use plastics and introducing re-usable items.

This 27-storey hotel sets an example for sustainability with a façade filled with plants that adds biodiversity and greenery to the surrounding CBD and acts as a sun shade. Sky gardens and atria elsewhere allow for natural cross-ventilation.
Capella Ubud, Bali
Committed to minimal intervention, this tented camp in Bali’s rainforest ensured all local plants and trees were protected during construction. It boasts an organic garden, crayfish farm and beehives, and is committed to giving back to the local community.
Eaton HK, Hong Kong
This interdisciplinary hotel is about inspiration and impact. It is dedicated to sustainability and the environment and to presenting a motivating programmes for guests, as well as striving for positive impact in the community.
Suarga Padang Padang, Bali
Delivering luxury with minimal impact, this sustainable boutique resort incorporates repurposed wood and locally sourced or made materials into its design, recycles rainwater and produces more energy than it consumes from solar panels.
