TeamLab Borderless Shanghai

TeamLab Borderless Tokyo, which opened in 2018, drew in 2.3 million visitors during its first year of operation. Now, the digital art collective led by Toshiyuki Inoko has transported the highly successful show to Shanghai. Sure, it’s art: but make sure your phone is fully charged when you visit TeamLab Borderless Shanghai for all those selfies.

Juju

From the team behind popular F&B concepts The Cannery and The Nest, Juju at Three on the Bund is the distant cousin of Seoul’s late-night eateries and bars. Expect soju, beer, fried chicken and all-you-can-eat barbecued meats, alongside funky hip-hop beats – and retro arcade machines.

Dead Poet

This Jinxian Lu cocktail bar is design firm OHA’s newest foray into the F&B scene. Dead Poet’s owners’ keen sense of aesthetics is showcased in the laid-back, Scandinavian-inspired lounge. The handwritten drinks menu is presented on delicate rice paper, while each cocktail is accompanied by a poem written by the staff.

Where to Stay

The Middle House opened as the fourth member of Swire Hotels’ The House Collective in 2018, and is part of the HKRI Taikoo Hui complex in the bustling Jing’an district. Piero Lissoni is in charge of both the exterior facade and the interiors: guests will find the Italian architect’s signature modernist aesthetics, along with design elements referencing Shanghainese culture and shikumen-style buildings, across all guestrooms, apartments and public spaces.
