'I never tire of Bangkok, my hometown, which has transformed into a cosmopolitan city, yet remains completely Thai. Millionaires and tuk-tuk drivers think nothing of eating alongside each other at a street stall. And the original center, Rattanakosin, retains its old-world ambiance full of classic temples, small sundries shops and folks dishing fabulous meals from their stoops.'
