Best Hong Kong Hotel

We reveal the hotel winner and shortlist in our city, Hong Kong, as chosen in the 2018 Marco Polo Club Members' Choice Awards by Cathay Pacific's most frequent flyers

Best Hong Kong Hotel

Winner: The Peninsula

Marco Polo Club Members Choice Awards, Best Hong Kong Hotel

The city’s oldest surviving hotel, The Peninsula scooped top billing, closely followed by Four Seasons Hong Kong and Mandarin Oriental. Celebrating her 90th anniversary this year, the grande dame has become a beloved institution, as famous for afternoon tea as tales from the swanky Felix bar. With many additions over the years, the latest modernisation saw the hotel welcome a Sunseeker Manhattan 60 yacht in October. The 19-metre vessel joins the iconic Rolls-Royce fleet and helicopter for land, sea and air transport options.

Best Hong Kong Hotel Shortlist

Four Seasons Hong Kong

Situated next to the International Finance Centre in Central, the Four Seasons Hong Kong affords its 399 rooms and suites, and award-winning restaurants Caprice and Lung King Heen, with breathtaking harbourfront views.

Kerry Hotel

A relatively new arrival on the hotel scene, offering panoramic harbourside views from Hung Hom. The self-styled ‘urban resort’ also offers an upmarket food court Dockyard, an expansive rooftop terrace at Red Sugar and one of the city’s biggest ballrooms.

Little Tai Hang

Located in the eponymous neighbourhood, Little Tai Hang is surrounded by hipster boutiques and cosy cafes while enjoying proximity to the bustling shopping of Causeway Bay and the lawns of Victoria Park.

Mandarin Oriental

The city’s home-grown luxury hotel remains a staple among well-to-do travellers on Hong Kong Island. As much of an institution as the hotel is its ever-popular high tea – and the venerable Captain’s Bar.

The Fleming

The Fleming may only be a small hotel in the heart of Wan Chai, but it goes big on style. The maritime-themed interiors were inspired by the classic green and white ferries that ply Hong Kong’s harbour, with brass fixtures and luxe wood panelling giving it a retro edge.

The Murray

The flagship hotel of Wharf Hotels’ Niccolo brand occupies a historic building in Central, redesigned by renowned architectural firm Fosters + Partners. The new luxury property offers 336 rooms and glamorous rooftop restaurant and bar Popinjays, boasting panoramic views over the CBD, Hong Kong Park and neighbouring Mid-Levels district.

The Pottinger

This luxury boutique on the boundaries of Central and Sheung Wan offers an ideal base for leisure and business travellers. Non-hotel guests have also been flocking here recently to check out the new ‘secret bar’ Room 309 from expert mixologist Antonio Lai (ask at reception for directions to the bar).

The Upper House

Swire Properties’ Hong Kong-based hotel is a paragon of clean, sophisticated design with natural materials thanks to the vision from Hong Kong’s preeminent designer Andre Fu. (Swire is the primary shareholder of Cathay Pacific.)
