Winner: The Ritz Carlton, Kyoto (Japan)

A cascading waterfall entrance, Meiji-era style architecture and private zen gardens in each suite are just some of the highlights that saw The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto win the most stylish hotel award. Designed by Hong Kong-based Remedios Studios, the property is a gorgeous tribute to Kyoto culture, combining traditional Japanese minimalist aesthetic, natural materials and luxurious finishes. More than 400 local artworks inspired by the 11th century novel The Tale of Genji are also dotted throughout the property, adding a unique sense of style.

137 Pillars Bangkok (Thailand)

All 34 suites in this boutique property have in-room bars and private wine cellars, with large balconies, ensuites with luxurious tubs and walk-in wardrobes.

Aman Tokyo (Japan)

Hoshinoya Fuji (Japan)

This Japanese glamping resort, hidden in a pine forest, offers minimalist cabins dominated by living room-style balconies that are deliberately designed to blur the line between interior and exterior.

Rosewood Beijing (China)

Focusing on residential appeal, guest rooms at Rosewood Beijinghave been created with warm, inviting colour palattes, sophisticated furnishings and Asian details.

Rosewood Phuket (Thailand)

This tropical hideaway offers a mixture of pavilions and villas, all with a focus on natural materials and neutral colour palettes to complement the surrounding nature.

The Middle House (Shanghai, China)

Under the direction of art director Piero Lissoni, a combination of sleek bold lines and Italian aesthetics are given a local twist to create a contemporary sanctuary in the heart of Shanghai. (The House Collective is part of the Swire Hotels collection, and Swire is the primary shareholder of Cathay Pacific)

The Temple House, Chengdu (China)

The Upper House (Hong Kong SAR, China)
