Best Hong Kong Restaurant

We reveal the restaurant winner and shortlist in our city, Hong Kong, as chosen in the 2018 Marco Polo Club Members' Choice Awards by Cathay Pacific's most frequent flyers.

Best Restaurant in Hong Kong

Winner: Caprice

Michelin Guide Hong Kong Marco Polo Club Members Choice Awards Caprice restaurant

Hong Kong’s perennial fine dining favourite, Amber is readying itself for an overhaul. Into the breach steps the Four Seasons’ Caprice, now under the helm of Guillaume Galliot. This is truly premium dining 2018-style: it has the relaxed energy of a brasserie and, on the menu itself, a precision, inventiveness and wit that’s charmed both diners and the Michelin judges. There’s daring wine pairing, too (steak tartare and sauvignon blanc? Tasting is believing). While Caprice has become a top people-watching spot, the views outside aren’t that bad either.

Best Restaurant in Hong Kong Shortlist

Arcane

Australian chef Shane Osborn presents a European fine-dining a la carte menu at this one-Michelin-star establishment in Central. Artworks from Flowers Gallery dress the space, while a terrace is designed to invoke an English garden.

Frantzén’s Kitchen

From chef Bjorn Frantzén comes a modern Nordic restaurant with Asian influences, set in a casual environment. Guests can also choose to perch at the kitchen counter to watch the action.

Happy Paradise

Chef May Chow throws caution to the wind at this vibrant Soho eatery, with avant-garde Neo-Chinese cuisine, creative cocktails and great music.

Ho Lee Fook

With a constant stream of diners, this popular modern Chinese restaurant from Black Sheep Restaurants was inspired by old-school Hong Kong cha chaan tengs (local greasy spoon cafes) and a dash of late-night 1960s New York.

Popinjays

This spacious rooftop restaurant and terrace at The Murray offers a premium dining destination with fun avian-themed cocktails and impressive skyline views over Central.

Ronin

This cool Japanese eatery from the team behind Yardbird offers an izakaya feel in a discreet Sheung Wan location (not to be confused with the other Ronin restaurant on Wellington Street) with a menu of yakitori and smaller bites.

The Chairman

This Cantonese restaurant draws on the 2,000-year history of Cantonese cuisine to present authentic dishes with a focus on local ingredients. Seafood is sourced daily from Aberdeen Fish Market and beancurd comes exclusively from long-established outlet Shu Kee in Tai Po.

Yan Toh Heen

The InterContinental’s upscale Cantonese restaurant has recently undergone a major renovation and relocation. The result is a gorgeous jade-themed setting with stunning harbour views.
