Frederik Buyckx’s Whiteout series captures the transformation of remote areas of the Balkans, Scandinavia and Central Asia during the harsh winters. This hibernal landscape (above) is from Albania’s northeastern Kalaja e Dodës region.
Buyckx was named Photographer of the Year at the 2017 Sony World Photography Awards.
Below you can see the full number of images in his Whiteout series. The 33-year-old Antwerp-born photographer has only been freelancing his services since 2010, but has already won numerous accolades, including the World Press Photo award in 2013 for his series “Jesus, Make-Up and Football” and has published several books of his work.
