Haluo Chuxing (Hellobike)
This app for the Alipay-backed bikeshare startup allows you to take one of the ubiquitous blue bikes lining Kunming’s sidewalks for a spin. Alipay recently began allowing users to set up accounts with their international credit cards, making it far easier for visitors to go cashless.

Kunming is the hub for travel and capital of Yunnan province. This year, high-speed rail networks will connect the city with the ancient town of Shangri-La and other areas previously only accessible via slow, winding bus rides. Work on international connections is also underway, with routes planned to connect Kunming to Yangon, Vientiane and Singapore.

Kunming’s buzziest brewpub is a popular community hangout – and now features a robust menu of Western pub food favourites with local touches, such as barbecue wings with Yunnan spices, or pizzas topped with local produce.
