Don’t Miss! 10 Great Movie, TV and Music Highlights Onboard This Month

The best way to ensure you’re not sitting next to an annoying movie know-it-all on your next flight, is to be one yourself. KEVIN MA picks 10 moments of trivia and backstory relating to this month’s inflight entertainment.

Flying during November? With more than 200 films and 500 hours of TV onboard Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon flights, it’s hard to know what to watch first.

Here are the best moments, stories and trivia from this month’s onboard programming.

1. Motion capture technology in War for the Planet of the Apes

Using the technology of motion capture, Andy Serkis gives an Oscar-calibre performance as ape leader Caesar in War for the Planet of the Apes onboard this month.

2. The song in A Ghost Story

The heartbreaking song that Casey Affleck’s character writes in A Ghost Story is actually I Get Overwhelmed by American band Dark Rooms.

6. The story behind Whitney: Can I Be Me

Whitney: Can I Be Me is an honest look at the circumstances that led to Whitney Houston’s ascension and fall from grace.

 7. The man behind Mifune: The Last Samurai

A frequent collaborator with director Akira Kurosawa, Toshiro Mifune is often cited as Japan’s greatest actor – one of the few to have influenced international cinema, too.

Watch the trailer for the documentary Mifune: The Last Samurai, showing onboard this month, here:

8. The awkwardness of The Dark Tower

10. What’s next?

Coming in December: Dunkirk, Logan Lucky, It, Wolf Warrior II, Game of Thrones (season 7) and much, much more!
