Grill Seekers: The Best Barbecue Spots in Hong Kong

Barbecuing is Hong Kong’s favourite autumnal pastime, and these self-service spots make it easy

Whitehead Barbecue: Seas the Day

Located in Ma On Shan, Whitehead Barbecue is one of Hong Kong’s most popular venues of its kind, partly thanks to its panoramic view of Tolo Harbour and the Pat Sin Leng mountain range. Its close proximity to Wu Kai Sha Beach means plenty of water activities are available, but those who prefer to stay dry can also rent out one of the seaside villas for some karaoke and mahjong to go along with Whitehead’s signature grilled suckling pig.

BBQ Party: A Grilling Ride

The cycling trail between Tai Wai and Tai Po offers plenty of natural scenery. And at the end of the path, in Tai Mei Tuk, is where you’ll find BBQ Party: a 400,000-square-foot venue offering self-service Korean-, Chongqing- and Hong Kong-style barbecues. A large playground is also situated on-site to keep the little ones occupied.

The Grill: Poolside Dining

For a more upscale barbecue experience, The Grill at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong in Wan Chai allows you to relax by the swimming pool and leave the cooking in the capable hands of the hotel’s chefs. The lavish dinner buffet set features a variety of salads, seafood and char-grilled specialities. Close your eyes and it almost feels like you’re on a tropical island.
